What is that due form?

Kneeling at the alter on my left knee, my right forming the angle of a square, my body erect with a square, my left hand supporting, my right hand upon the Holy Bible, square and compass in which due form I take the solemn obligation of an entered apprentice Mason.

What was then done with you?

I was made an entered apprentice Mason in due form.

Were you?

I was.

What was then said to you?

That before we could proceed any further with the crs of this degree it would be necessary for me to take an obligation by which I would bond myself to keep invlt all the mysteries of Freemasonry aprt to the degree of entered apprentice Mason and was assured that this obligation would not interfere with the duty I woe to god my country, my neighbor or myself; it aptd to Freemasonry alone. With this assurance on the part of the Mason I was asked if I was willing to proceed.

What was then done with you?

I was received to the Senior Warden in the West who taught me to advance by one regular step, my foot forming an angle, my body erect facing the east.

What was then done with you?

I was conducted once around the lodge that the Worshipful Master and brethren might see that I was duly and truly prepared, and caused to stop at the South, West and East stations where the same questions were asked and like answers returned as at the door.

What was then done and said to you?

I was taken by the right hand, told to arise, followed my guide and feared not what man could do unto me.

Your answer?

In God.

What was then asked of you?

In whom I put my trust.

What was then done with you?

I was conducted to the center of the lodge and caused to kneel for the benefit of prayer because no man should ever enter upon any great or important undertaking without first invoking the blessing of God.

How were you received?

Upon the point of a sharp instrument piercing my naked left breast which was to teach me that as that instrument was a torture to my flesh, so should recollection be to my mind and conscience should I ever presume to reveal any of the secrets of Freemasonry unlawfully.

What was his answer?

Let him enter.

What was then said to you?

That I should wait a time with patience until the Worshipful Master in the East was informed of my request and his answer returned.

You answer?

By being a man, free born, under the tongue of good report and coming well recommended.

What was then asked?

If this was of my own free will and accord, if I was duly and truly prepared, worthy and well qualified, of lawful age and properly vouched for; all of which being answered in the affirmative, I was asked by what further right I expected to gain admission into a lodge of Free and Accepted Masons.

Your answer?

A poor blind candidate who desires to be brought from darkness to light. To receive and have a part of the rights and beliefs of this worshipful lodge erected to god and dedicated to the holy saints John as all brothers and fellows have done who have gone this way before.

How did you gain admission?

By giving three distinct knocks at the door from without which were answered by a like number from within followed by the inquiry who comes here.

Being hoodwinked, how did you know there was a door?

By first meeting with resistance and after gaining admission

How were you prepared?

By being divested of all minerals and metals, neither naked nor clothed, barefoot nor shod, my left breast, knee and foot bare, hoodwinked and a cabletow once around by neck in which condition, I was led to the door by a friend whom I after found to be a brother.
