Network Cabling Flashcards ionicons-v5-c

What are the four fundamental properties of an analog signal?

Wave Amplitude, Wave Frequency, Wave length, Wave Phase

What does a modem do ?

A modern changes computer signals into phone line signals so that the data can travel over the telephone line.

What is twisted ratio and why is it important?

It is the number of twist per meter of foot and it is important because having the twist tight will result in better performance and minimal crosstalk.

Why is SMF more efficient over long distances than MMF?

Because the laser-generated light travels a single path over the narrow core, reflecting very little.

Why do APC ferrules create less back reflection than do UPC ferrules?

By placing the end faces of the highly polished ferrules at an angle to each other.

What does a fiber cleaver do?

It is a tool used for stripping the casing off of a wirer

How is latency measured and in what unit?

By calculating a packet's RTT(round trip time),RTT is usually measured in milliseconds.

What is the difference between short circuits and open circuits?

short circuits is an unwanted connection, such as when exposed wires touch each other. And open circuits are need circuits that are missing, such as when wirer breaks.
